Welcome to Year 4/5 Tassie Devil

Teachers - Mrs Lisa Miller (Mon, Tues, Wed, Thurs), Mrs Kylie Toberty (Frid)
Our classroom
We often use a flexible seating arrangement in our classroom that suits the work we are doing. Children can choose their work station each session, whether it be lying on the floor, sitting on cushions or a lounge, sitting at a desk or standing up. We work with our shoes off in the classroom and are allowed to wear our slippers if we like! We love it!
Here are some of the things we get up to in our classroom each week.
Literacy
Literacy Groups take place 4 days per week, giving students opportunities to complete activities around writing, reading, talking, listening, viewing, vocabulary building, grammar and punctuation, spelling, using digital technologies, and creative thinking and response. Literacy groups are conducted across the whole school. We also complete an English unit each term focusing on a variety or text types for writing as well as activities focused around spelling, grammar, handwriting and talking and listening.
Here are some of our Rainforest Haiku poems.
All students have been plotted on the Literacy Continuum. We display our Literacy Data wall in the classroom so students have a clear understanding of which level they are on and what they need to do to progress to the next step on the continuum.
Numeracy
Students work on whole number concepts and multiplication tables every day. Students complete activities in Geometry, Measurement, Statistics and Probability on Mondays and Tuesdays and Number and Algebra tasks on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays for Numeracy Groups.
Humanities (Geography, History, Science)
Each term we learn about a Science, History or Geography topic.
Personal Development, Health and Physical Education
Throughout the year, students participate in activities to promote their physical, social and emotional wellbeing. Fundamental movement skills and Sport form an integral part in meeting the physical education requirements for students.
Creative and Practical Arts
In our class, we love participating in anything to do with performing and creating. Our Visual Arts is typically based on our English and Humatities topics. Each week, students participate in dance, music and drama.
